Set in a world where a new hush law has limited each person’s speech to 140 words per day, it explores a young couple's struggles to communicate – both before and after the law comes into effect. This clever play is about what we say and how we say it; about the things we can only hear in the silence; and how inequalities are intensified by austerity in any form, even linguistics. Sam Steiner’s debut play premiered at Warwick Arts Centre in 2015, before appearing at Latitude Festival, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Camden People’s Theatre, London.
