Philip de Grouchy - A member of the Maskers since about 1971 - a mere newcomer - Philip has appeared in various productions over the years, at the Nuffield, the Studio, and in the open air. He has taken part in the Maskers Christmas Show many times, as performer, and sometimes as deviser/director as well. He very much hopes you will enjoy tonight's show, a 'gallimaufry', or varied mixture, of items some of which you will recognize, some of which will be new and original.
Cast | |
Jill Desborough - Jill is a recent recruit to The Maskers. After a long career as an English teacher, and raising two children, she now has the time to unleash her inner thespian. She is looking forward to participating in many aspects of the company's work.
Pauline Dukes - Pauline enjoyed acting from a young age. She successfully auditioned for the Bristol Old Vic theatre school when she was 18, but then decided she wanted to be a teacher not an actress! She has lived in Southampton since 1973 and often thought about joining the Maskers but always seemed to be too busy. She retired in 2012 after 40 years in education and immediately joined! This is her third Christmas show, she really enjoys it and is looking forward to getting everyone into the Christmas spirit!
Janet Scott - Janet joined Maskers intending to help backstage, but almost immediately found herself performing in that year’s Christmas show. The next summer she was a soggy fairy in a rain-drenched A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Hamptworth. This is now her fourth Christmas show and the second for which she’s written pieces. Not bad for someone who’d never acted or written before Maskers! Hopefully the audience will find the show as enjoyable to watch as it is to perform.
Eric Petterson. Eric Petterson started a late acting and singing career in A Christmas Charivari in 2012. His straight acting roles included the guard in Forward to the Right and Jack in The Weir. This year he was James in 13th Floor and Victor in The Price at the Chesil theatre in Winchester. He is especially enjoying the two dramas in this year's show, particularly as he gets to play a really nasty villain!
Marie McDade - Since joining Maskers three years ago, Marie has played a demented secretary, a gormless fairy, an alcoholic swinger, a tart-with-a-heart and an eccentric professor, amongst other things. This Christmas Gallimaufry will be her first show together with Phil de Grouchy since her school days some 40 years ago - "and it don't seem a day too much!"
